The Paragon LT F-Open Action builds upon the proven foundation of the original Paragon, incorporating all of the same industry-leading design features and innovations—now in a significantly lighter platform. Designed specifically for serious F-Open competitors, the LT variant reduces overall action weight by 10 ounces, bringing the total weight to 46 oz (without trigger) compared to the original 56 oz. (these weights are taken with fluted bolts, non fluted bolts add 1 oz and run exceptionally smooth in the action bodys, and make clearning the actions easier as there is no spiral grooves.

This weight reduction is achieved through strategic lightening cuts without compromising the strength, rigidity, or performance that define the Paragon platform. The result is an action that gives competitors greater options in overall rifle weight management—especially for those looking to run heavier, high-end optics while still meeting the approx. 22 lbs (10 kg) F-Class weight limit.

Like the original, the Paragon LT was engineered to address critical factors that influence accuracy, incorporating innovative mechanical features not previously combined in a single action design. It represents a purpose-built solution for F-Open shooters seeking the highest level of consistency and performance.

Manufactured in Phoenix, Arizona, USA by Blake Barrel and Rifle (Class 7 FFL Manufacturer), distributed by also FClassProducts, the Paragon LT continues the legacy of precision and innovation behind the Paragon name:

Paragon: A model of excellence.

Key Features (Shared with the Paragon Platform)

The Paragon LT shares the same advancements, reliability and consistency as the standard Paragon, it just weighs 10 oz less.  These aforementioned features include the following on all Paragons:

Micro-Adjustable Trigger Hanger System
The Paragon LT features a micro-adjustable trigger hanger utilizing an eccentric cam system, allowing up to .040” of precise firing pin fall adjustment and perfect hand off timing to the trigger catch. This adjustment can be made from the bottom of the stock without removing the action (if the stock is inletted accordingly), giving the shooter the ability to fine-tune ignition characteristics with ease.

Modular Bolt Head Control System
The Paragon has a bolt on bolt control head that allows you to use one bolt for either a magnum case (.535" head) or a standard .472” case without having to purchase an additional bolt. You simply, with two screws un-screw the bolt control head and then swap it out for the magnum or standard cartridge family. Headspace remains unchanged as well. The bolt control head swap takes less than 60 seconds.

Cocking Piece Retention Design (No Cross Pin)
Unlike traditional Remington 700-style systems that rely on a cross pin (which can walk and cause drag on the bolt shroud), the Paragon LT utilizes a rear clip retention captive system. This completely eliminates the possibility of interference between the cocking piece and bolt shroud, ensuring consistent firing pin operation and maintaining accuracy.

Multi-Flat Cocking Piece with Roller Interface
Multi-flat cocking piece that is made from billet 17-4PH aircraft grade material that has a hardened pin and roller mechanism that allows for reduced friction on opening the bolt handle when cocking the firing pin back to the cocked position.

Advanced Bolt Shroud Assembly
The bolt shroud has a threads per inch of 40 to allow only .006” of lateral movement when the bolt is closed or opened to assist in as little firing pin spring compression as possible throughout the opening and closing cycle of the bolt hand operation. The bolt shroud is made of 7075 billet aluminum which is then hard anodized to reduce friction and wear. The bolt shroud then has a pressed in hardened precision ground bushing that will reduce friction on the firing pin and will not wear out over time like a conventional bolt shroud tends to do. The bushing is also replaceable at a later date as a maintenance item if the item is desired to be replaced.

Premium 4340 Billet Firing Pin
The firing pin is made in our facility out of 4340, billet chromoly steel. Most firing pins on the market are made out of 1144 stress proof (fatigue proof) which makes for a really easy manufacturing process. The issues with 1144 is that they are severely soft and wear over time. The 1144 pins generally have a rockwell on the C scale of less than 20. Our 4340 billet firing pins have a rockwell of 42-44 on the C scale and has the highest fatigue and crack and breaking resistance out of nearly any steel available.

Serviceable Ejector System
The ejector takes up half of the surface area on the bolt face compared to a full round ejector. The ejector is retained by the bolt control head so you do not need a hammer and a punch to remove the ejector, all you have to do is remove the bolt head and you can then service or remove the ejector as you see fit.

7-Bolt Pillar Mounting Pattern
The pillar mounting pattern on the Paragon features a total of 7, ¼-28 bolts that are thread milled in to the bolt action body. The pattern incorporates many other popular brand actions. We did this so that if you already have a stock that is pillared and inletted for an existing action, chances are you will not have to remove and replace pillars to a different location as we already have a bolt pattern that will fit your existing pillar locations. This makes the adaptation of the Paragon very simple compared to having to re-pillar your existing stock.

Surface Treatment (Salt Bath Nitride)
All actions are finished with salt bath nitride, this process creates a surface hardness exceeding 66 RC, dramatically reducing wear while improving lubricity across all mating surfaces.  The process is done with Diffusion which means it does not add thickness, as the treatment is a penetrating type that goes into the metal itself, so if the black visual wears off, that is OK, as the blackening during nitriding is a bi product of the salt bath nitride processing, the hardness and protection is below the surface.

Optional Spiral Fluted Bolt Body
The bolt features spiral fluting that not only enhances aesthetics but serves a functional purpose—providing channels for dirt and debris to migrate into, reducing wear between the bolt and receiver.  A fluted bolt body saves 1 oz over a non flute bolt body, although non fluted bolt bodies run smoother in the actions and are easier to wipe down to clean, there is no pro or con functional difference between the two.

Multi-Flat Action Body Design
The flat-bottom with a 5-degree-per-side draft allows for easier bedding, as well as smoother installation and removal from the stock without binding against parallel surfaces.

Oversized Bolt Lug Geometry
With a lug diameter of .992”, width of .465”, and length of .605”, the Paragon LT provides approximately .140 square inches of lug contact surface—roughly 35% greater than a Remington 700 and many of the custom actions on the market that just copy the remington 700 actions—resulting in exceptional strength and durability.

.066” Firing Pin Tip Diameter
Optimized firing pin tip diameter ensures consistent, reliable primer ignition while maintaining proper support and minimizing primer flow, with a .002"-.0025" clearance on the firing pin hole on the bolt.

Surface Ground Bolt Faces post nitride.
We are the ONLY manufacture that surface grinds our bolt face to be perpendicular to the lug faces.  We also do this after all nitride and heat treatments have been done.  This not only guarantees our headspace to be minimum twice as tight of tolerance as everyone else on the market, but also gives a finish that helps alleviate the brass from the cartridge case from building up on the bolt surface where the case pressures against.

Why Choose the Paragon LT?

The Paragon LT delivers everything that makes the original Paragon a top-tier F-Open action—now in a lighter, more competition-optimized package. By reducing weight without sacrificing strength or functionality, competitors gain greater flexibility in overall rifle weight management—especially for those looking to run heavier, high-end optics while still meeting the approx. 22 lbs (10 kg) F-Class weight limit.

For competitors pushing the limits of F-Class precision, the Paragon LT represents the next evolution in purpose-built action design without sacrificing the large footprint and bolt diameter.

Paragon LT Conversion Program

Already own a Paragon action?

We offer the ability to have your existing Paragon action machined into the LT configuration, incorporating the same lightening cuts used on the Paragon LT to reduce overall weight. This allows current owners to take advantage of the lighter platform without purchasing a completely new action.

All conversion work is performed in-house to ensure the same precision, quality, and performance standards as a new Paragon LT action.

Please contact us directly for current pricing, turnaround time, and conversion details.  (If wanting just the weight savings, while leaving their original black nitride surface finish in the areas that are not post machined, price will be 350.00.)  If you already have a polished action body, it will still match very well after the LT lightening has been done, as the machined surface is very close in visual color and finish to the black chrome polish that is done post nitride.  We also can polish your existing action first (250 for the polishing alone which includes bolt body polishing) and then perform the LT lightening on your action for the 350 for that service also.

Blake Barrel and Rifle Paragon Dual Port Action

Posted by Scott Lake on Apr 10th 2025

Product Review: Blake Barrel and Rifle Paragon Dual Port Action An In-Depth Look at Features, Performance, and Value Introduction In the ever-evolving world of precision long-range shooting, the release of a new action on the market is always met with great anticipation. While at the 2023 NRA Nationals, held at Ben Avery in Phoenix AZ, I was able to visit and take a tour of Bryan’s business and the latest product that he was working on, which was the Paragon action. Bryan is a true innovator and is always looking to make things better in his products and especially for the F-Class community. Being an engineer myself, I can fully appreciate the effort that he puts forth. Many manufacturers get comfortable with their products, especially when they are selling well. Why change something that isn’t broken? Well, I believe that you must listen to the users of your products and that is what Bryan does. Being an active F-Class shooter himself, he hears what everyone is saying. What they are happy with and what they are not. Every manufacturer’s product has its strengths and weaknesses. So why not make a product that fixes all the weaknesses? I believe that is what Bryan has done with his product. Design and Build Quality The first thing that strikes me about the action that I purchased is the thought that he put into the bolt design. I am one who likes to shoot multiple calibers with the same rifle. Up until now, that required buying multiple bolts which are upwards of $750 each. The Paragon has a bolt-on bolt control head that can easily be changed in a matter of minutes. Then you change your barrel to a different caliber and you’re back in business in less than an hour. The Paragon also incorporates an adjustable trigger hangar design. No more wondering what trigger hangar that you need to buy with your trigger. The Paragon incorporates an eccentric screw that allows for that exact adjustment necessary to time your specific trigger. There is a lot of material in this action and thus this also can relate to added strength. If there is a downside to the action, it would be the weight. Especially if you have a maximum weight limit. However, he has a solution for this as well. You can consider his Eminence action, which has additional weight savings. Finally, is the aesthetics. I ordered my action with the black chrome finish. I like being different and unique than others on the range. And the black chrome finish is just that. Performance I think that every shooter wants their action to be as smooth as butter when they are cycling a cartridge. The Paragon does just that. I am currently shooting the 7BSM cartridge, which is a short magnum, and is like the RSAUM and WSM cartridges. The action functioned like it was on ball bearings. Very smooth and quiet. The bolt lift was nearly effortless. Which brings me to the bolt handle. How many manufacturers give you an option on different bolt handle designs? We all have our own technique we go through during a match. Comfort improves consistency. Incorporating a bolt handle that fits your hand the way you like to cycle a round can make a difference in your game. The difference may be small, but in this sport, it’s all the small differences that can improve your game. Value for Money The action is priced competitively, especially when you consider the cost of multiple bolts. Also, you don’t have to buy additional trigger hangars, just in case the one you bought doesn’t time your trigger correctly and you need to buy another. While the action may be slightly higher in price, the Paragon delivers excellent performance and has a sexy look that will compliment the rest of your rifle. Conclusion In conclusion, being the latest action on the market, it is a very worthy contender in this very competitive market. We are all true and loyal to the people who support us in this sport. I have tried two other top brand actions, and they have treated me well. However, I do like to try and assess new products. I believe in the old saying by General Patton, that “If we’re all thinking alike, then someone isn’t thinking.” Bryan has thought outside of the box with this product, and it is worth giving it a try. I firmly believe that you will not be disappointed.
