Introducing the latest advancement from Blake Barrel and Rifle, the carbon fiber wrapped barrel. Blake Barrel and Rifle (BBR) has a renown reputation for producing not only multi championship winning barrels in the last few years but also now world title winning barrels. We have shown to the world that we can produce some of the best possible cut rifle barrels in the world. What about our lightweight hunting friends that want that same level of accuracy in a barrel that weighs just 2.5 lbs?

Well, we haven't forgotten about you and are now offering the same world winning accuracy in a 2.5 pound barrel.
With the carbon fiber wrapped barrels, we have developed a special contour that maximizes weight removal while still maintaining the rigidity and strength structure needed for accuracy and safety. We have designed the specific profile using FIA software for pressures and harmonics to produce outstanding results. A steel barrel with the same outside contour as the carbon fiber wrapped barrels would be roughly half the weight compared. These barrels are also much stiffer than that of a steel one of the same weight.

The barrel then gets wrapped with 24K and 50K tow on the wrapping process. Several different angles are used for the strands of carbon fiber with an aerospace grade epoxy being used for the bonding process.

We obtained competitors' carbon fiber wrapped barrels for comparison and at the same length and tenon diameter of the barrel, our barrels are 1 lb lighter than our competitors! Why is that you ask? Because the competitors use one size of profile for the steel portion of the barrel no matter the actual caliber the barrel is. So if you order a .224 cal barrel blank, it has the same steel structure as a 338 cal barrel blank. For the company this makes manufacturing cost way cheaper and simpler as they do not have to have specific steel contours for each caliber. With that process you end up with super heavy barrels in the usual smaller calibers, ie .224, 6mm, 6.5mm, 7mm and .308 cal because of that master contour used.
