The Paragon F-Open action was engineered to address critical factors that influence accuracy, incorporating innovative mechanical features not previously combined in a single action design. It represents a purpose-built solution for F-Open shooters seeking the highest level of consistency and performance.

Manufactured in Phoenix, Arizona, USA by Blake Barrel and Rifle (Class 7 FFL Manufacturer), distributed by also FClassProducts, the Paragon LT continues the legacy of precision and innovation behind the Paragon name:

Paragon: A model of excellence.

Optional Add-ons:

Specifications:

  • 8.5” long, 1.5” wide, 56 oz. (Add 1 oz if wanting smooth non-fluted bolt).
  • 3.25” loading/ejection port allows most F-Class cartridges to be ejected without removing the bolt, even with the bullet still in the case.
  • Offered in right or left bolt configurations with configurable load/ejection options
  • Integral 20 MOA Picatinny rail (true 1913 mil-spec)
  • Integral recoil lug, beefy 3/8 inch thick and is located at the front of the action for the best support of recoil managment within the stock system.
  • 1.062-18 tenon, .935” length with a headspace of 1.074” +.001”, -.000.
  • Billet bolt body and handle (no welding or soldering). The billet bolt handle threads into the billet bolt body for ultimate strength and versatility for ergonomics of your specific hand grip and position on the rifle.
  • 5/16-24 bolt knob thread on bolt handle
  • Billet aluminum counterbored bolt handle for the upmost strength.
  • Mini M16 type extractor, we manufacture in house out of 17-4 PH stainless and hardened to a hardness of 44-46 RC at 180,000 Tensile strength.
  • Action and bolt bodies are constructed from aircraft-grade 17-4 PH stainless steel and heat treated and nitrited to 42 RC.

Key Features:

Micro-Adjustable Trigger Hanger System
The Paragon LT features a micro-adjustable trigger hanger utilizing an eccentric cam system, allowing up to .040” of precise firing pin fall adjustment and perfect hand off timing to the trigger catch. This adjustment can be made from the bottom of the stock without removing the action (if the stock is inletted accordingly), giving the shooter the ability to fine-tune ignition characteristics with ease.

Modular Bolt Head Control System
The Paragon has a bolt on bolt control head that allows you to use one bolt for either a magnum case (.535" head) or a standard .472” case without having to purchase an additional bolt. You simply, with two screws un-screw the bolt control head and then swap it out for the magnum or standard cartridge family. Headspace remains unchanged as well. The bolt control head swap takes less than 60 seconds.

Cocking Piece Retention Design (No Cross Pin)
Unlike traditional Remington 700-style systems that rely on a cross pin (which can walk and cause drag on the bolt shroud), the Paragon LT utilizes a rear clip retention captive system. This completely eliminates the possibility of interference between the cocking piece and bolt shroud, ensuring consistent firing pin operation and maintaining accuracy.

Multi-Flat Cocking Piece with Roller Interface
Multi-flat cocking piece that is made from billet 17-4PH aircraft grade material that has a hardened pin and roller mechanism that allows for reduced friction on opening the bolt handle when cocking the firing pin back to the cocked position.

Advanced Bolt Shroud Assembly
The bolt shroud has a threads per inch of 40 to allow only .006” of lateral movement when the bolt is closed or opened to assist in as little firing pin spring compression as possible throughout the opening and closing cycle of the bolt hand operation. The bolt shroud is made of 7075 billet aluminum which is then hard anodized to reduce friction and wear. The bolt shroud then has a pressed in hardened precision ground bushing that will reduce friction on the firing pin and will not wear out over time like a conventional bolt shroud tends to do. The bushing is also replaceable at a later date as a maintenance item if the item is desired to be replaced.

Premium 4340 Billet Firing Pin
The firing pin is made in our facility out of 4340, billet chromoly steel. Most firing pins on the market are made out of 1144 stress proof (fatigue proof) which makes for a really easy manufacturing process. The issues with 1144 is that they are severely soft and wear over time. The 1144 pins generally have a rockwell on the C scale of less than 20. Our 4340 billet firing pins have a rockwell of 42-44 on the C scale and has the highest fatigue and crack and breaking resistance out of nearly any steel available.

Serviceable Ejector System
The ejector takes up half of the surface area on the bolt face compared to a full round ejector. The ejector is retained by the bolt control head so you do not need a hammer and a punch to remove the ejector, all you have to do is remove the bolt head and you can then service or remove the ejector as you see fit.

7-Bolt Pillar Mounting Pattern
The pillar mounting pattern on the Paragon features a total of 7, ¼-28 bolts that are thread milled in to the bolt action body. The pattern incorporates many other popular brand actions. We did this so that if you already have a stock that is pillared and inletted for an existing action, chances are you will not have to remove and replace pillars to a different location as we already have a bolt pattern that will fit your existing pillar locations. This makes the adaptation of the Paragon very simple compared to having to re-pillar your existing stock.

Surface Treatment (Salt Bath Nitride)
All actions are finished with salt bath nitride, this process creates a surface hardness exceeding 66 RC, dramatically reducing wear while improving lubricity across all mating surfaces.  The process is done with Diffusion which means it does not add thickness, as the treatment is a penetrating type that goes into the metal itself, so if the black visual wears off, that is OK, as the blackening during nitriding is a bi product of the salt bath nitride processing, the hardness and protection is below the surface.

Optional Spiral Fluted Bolt Body
The bolt features spiral fluting that not only enhances aesthetics but serves a functional purpose—providing channels for dirt and debris to migrate into, reducing wear between the bolt and receiver.  A fluted bolt body saves 1 oz over a non flute bolt body, although non fluted bolt bodies run smoother in the actions and are easier to wipe down to clean, there is no pro or con functional difference between the two.

Multi-Flat Action Body Design
The flat-bottom with a 5-degree-per-side draft allows for easier bedding, as well as smoother installation and removal from the stock without binding against parallel surfaces.

Oversized Bolt Lug Geometry
With a lug diameter of .992”, width of .465”, and length of .605”, the Paragon LT provides approximately .140 square inches of lug contact surface—roughly 35% greater than a Remington 700 and many of the custom actions on the market that just copy the remington 700 actions—resulting in exceptional strength and durability.

.066” Firing Pin Tip Diameter
Optimized firing pin tip diameter ensures consistent, reliable primer ignition while maintaining proper support and minimizing primer flow, with a .002"-.0025" clearance on the firing pin hole on the bolt.

Surface Ground Bolt Faces post nitride.
We are the ONLY manufacture that surface grinds our bolt face to be perpendicular to the lug faces.  We also do this after all nitride and heat treatments have been done.  This not only guarantees our headspace to be minimum twice as tight of tolerance as everyone else on the market, but also gives a finish that helps alleviate the brass from the cartridge case from building up on the bolt surface where the case pressures against.
